How would you describe the soul of the Cyclades?

Elegantly simple, charming and inviting.

If there’s one place you’d recommend people go to when they’re there, where is it?

If I had to suggest one must visit location, it would be the unspoilt island of Polyaigos. Nestled between Milos and Kimolos, this uninhabited island has pristine turquoise waters, unparalleled tranquillity and beautiful pebbles (the perfect souvenir).

Earliest memory of a perfect day on the islands?

Every year I used to go around the Cyclades by boat with my parents and sister. The day would start by jumping in the refreshing water, followed by some grapes and watermelon for breakfast. My father and I would then go windsurfing or scuba diving to explore secret coves and hunt for hidden underwater treasures. Sometimes we would be lucky enough to catch a fish and grill it onboard accompanied by traditional Greek meze. At sunset we would go out to explore the town followed by a big fat Greek dinner with our group of friends during sunset.

Which is your personal, all-time favourite island in the Cyclades, and why?

It depends on my mood and who I’m travelling with; each island has its unique offering.

The best, standout meal you’ve ever eaten in the Cyclades?

It was at Bostani restaurant in Sifnos, where I had the most exquisite revithada (chickpeas) with fresh crayfish. The flavours were simply unforgettable, capturing the essence of the Cyclades in every bite.

What is an insider tip that has changed the way you travel?

Embracing the philosophy of ‘slow’ travel has been a game changer for me. I try to spend at least five nights at each destination, striking a perfect balance between exploration and relaxation.

Besides Cyclades, which are your top 3 places in the world?

The Alps and specifically the village of Lech in Austria
Oaxaca, Mexico,
Amalfi Coast & Capri, Italy

Favourite Greek characteristic?

The heartfelt warmth and ingrained sense of hospitality. Everywhere I travel in Greece I love how naturally easy it is to meet and connect with the locals -their open-hearted kindness makes every moment feel like coming home.

How would you describe the soul of the Cyclades?

Calming, warm, intimate & timeless

If there’s one place you’d recommend people go to when they’re there, where is it?

My favourite place is a small village on the northern side of Sifnos island called Cheronissos. Everything there, from the tavernas, the jetty, the lack of signal and the people, makes you feel like you are in a different time.

Earliest memory of a perfect day on the islands?

Taking a small boat out from Paroikia (the capital of Paros) down to a small island off of Antiparos, called Despotiko. It was a very windy day but my father insisted that we had to deplete the boat’s fuel since “it was the end of the season”. I think it was his excuse for a mini adventure as the boat was too small for the waves we faced on the way back. And quite the adventure it was!

Which is your personal, all-time favourite island in the Cyclades, and why?

I will go with Sifnos, for its incredible light, views and general aesthetic.

The best, standout meal you’ve ever eaten in the Cyclades?

At Prasonisi fish tavern, next to Prasa beach in Kimolos: the freshest seafood in a beautiful balcony with turquoise waters just below and the island of Polyaigos in the background. Top this with some Tsipouro (Greek Grapa) and you have the perfect meal.

What is an insider tip that has changed the way you travel?

Leave your phone at the hotel even if it’s just for a few hours. You would be surprised how much more you‘ll take in.

Besides Cyclades, which are your top 3 places in the world?

Paris, Norwegian Fjords, Thailand

Favourite Greek characteristic?

I love how, sometimes, we get excited even by the smallest things in life, and rush to share these with our friends & loved ones.
